Well, I am catching up on blogging. Last night I made myself do some "making" as Stew calls it. It wasn't a success as I was too tired and kept making daft mistakes. But I want to blog them because it's all about learning from your mistakes. How can you learn if you pretend it didn't happen, right?
Not sure what my plan was there. Next!
This was for the monochromatic challenge on Shop Our Stash. Something's missing.
Finally, today, whilst Leo was in his swing (!!! Not quite there with the cot but making progress!) I made this for a friend who has just had a baby called Noah. I never thought I'd like this stamp, so I borrowed it from Lovely Heather, and I have fallen in love!
For me, that's a damned good job of colouring. I try, but it isn't my forte. Not quite sure what is my forte, mind you.
Anyway! The stamp is called "Two by Two" ($8.95) by the awesome Stampin' Up!, coloured in with a blender pen & SU! inkpads. When I get my own, I think I'll cut the sentiment off and mount that on the side of the wood block. That way it's really easy to use the image and sentiment separately. I also love the wavy sentiment - it means I have a bit more leeway than usual on trying to keep it looking straight. Again, not a forte!
Right. Must go and wake Leo up. Jacob has requested McDonald's for dinner, and since he's been a bit poorly, I am obliging him this evening. I'd like to pat myself on the back there for my "great mummy" skills, however, I am not sure taking your child to the Golden Arches really qualifies.
Three fabulous cards, Bexx! My favorite is the camera!! Love the fabulous papers and layout!
ReplyDeleteI think you are way too hard on yourself but I know the feeling :). The butterfly card might be improved with a bit of white gel pen faux stitching around the outside? I really like the accents you used for the butterfly body though! And McDs is just the thing when you feel poorly sometimes so it totally counts.
ReplyDeleteI think all your cards are great, but the Noah's Ark card is my favorite! Your coloring looks good to me. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's funny how you step us through your process! and I liked the stitching and camera image card. the ark card does seem to pop between the layout and neat scalloped borders and work with your handy blender pen...it looks great!
ReplyDeleteThese are all great cards! I love the Two by Two set, but haven't inked mine up yet-your coloring is well done! On the butterfly card, I wuld probably add some bling or sparkle-maybe a row of rhinestones up the side? It's still very nice as a CAS card too! My favorite is the camera-love the stitching detail!!
ReplyDeleteI think they are all cute cards! I don't see any mistakes. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe coloring is great on the "two by two" card. I'm definitely not great at coloring so I shy away from it. I really should practice.
Oh. that baby card! Love it :) The image is adorable and I think you did a wonderful job of coloring. Like you, I'm never sure what my forte is, but it's the journey that's the fun part, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd giving your babies a little of what they want, even if it is Micky D, is exactly what being a good mum is all about!
Bexx, this is adorable! You did a great job on the coloring, be proud!
ReplyDeleteThese are all great cards, Bexx! The coloring is fantastic.
